You can go to a store and pick out just any flash light that you see and bring it with you – but it might not work for you the way you would like. Instead you need to find something that is made with the right materials and will have features that make it useful instead of a waste of space.
Try to find something that is made with corrosion and scratch resistant materials. If you are going to be near a river or lake than you should also try to find one that is waterproof. That way it will be safe if you drop it when in the boat.
The worst thing that you will find in a cheap flash light is that it will not shine over a wide area. This makes it difficult for you to see everything that is in front of you. When you spend a bit more money you can find some that come with an adjustable beam.
You should have more than one at your campsite so that everyone will have something to use. For inside the tent you can have something that will convert into a lantern. This makes it easier to see what you are doing without having to obscure the light when you put it down.
Always bring along a pocket sized flashlight. Keep this on you as a backup. Some of these will also come with a handle that you can bite down on to hold in your mouth when you need your hands to be free.
