Camping Head Lights
When you are out camping and trekking through the woods you need to use something that is going to light the way for you. When you wish to use something that will help to keep your hands free then you should use camping headlights. These are ultra bright lights that have the ability to work around 100,000 hours or more.
Each one will cost between $10 to $30 and are designed to be water resistant and shockproof. The higher end units are able to handle the environment outside when it is raining, snowing, or windy. The light will not flicker and is made to consume less power so it can work for longer periods of time.
The bulbs that these headlights use will be either LED, xenon, or halogen. The LED are the best because they last much longer and use less energy. This means that they are smaller and are used in the compact and more comfortable designs. Unfortunately this small size cannot shine very far and the beam may be scattered all over the place.
The xenon and halogen light bulbs are white bulbs that have the ability to shine a straight beam of light with wide angles. The majority of headlights use these two bulbs and have been designed to be adjustable. The downside to these is that they are bulky and cannot last as long.
The size of the headlight will be dependent on the type of light bulb that it is using as well as the battery. Lithium batteries are the smallest and have the ability to provide the most power for the brightest beam of light. However, they are quite expensive.
Alkaline batteries are the standard types that people will use and are much larger. These will usually require a battery pack that the camper can keep on their belt or headlamp strap. When using these batteries you will not be given the brightest light – but they are not as expensive.
There are newer types of solar headlights that you can choose. These are expensive – but not always the best because they are not as reliable. Only choose this power source if it has an emergency battery option.
